I wanted to start investing but had no money. So at 14 I went out and found a job — working evenings and weekends while most people my age weren't thinking about it yet.

I wanted the North American high school experience, but chose Canada over the US. Vancouver was the obvious pick — west coast, skiing, no language barrier. Living alone at 16 in a different country changed how I see things. I came back more confident and more aware of what I'd taken for granted.
